Deal Alert: Sprint HTC EVO 4G for just $149.99 after mail-in rebate

What HTC EVO 4G-wanting Sprint customer (or future customer) doesn’t like a good deal? To help stoke sales of the hot-like-fire Sprint HTC EVO 4G, Sprint is apparently offering a secret discount on the handset to anyone willing to deal with a mail-in rebate. Sure, you could forgo the mail-in rebate altogether by picking up an EVO 4G from Best Buy (they offer a $100 instant discount), but you’d still be paying $199.99 for the phone. But, with a little sneaky maneuvering, you can get your hands on this Summer’s Android hotness for $50 cheaper directly from Big Yellow.

How do you do it, you ask? Well, it’s a simple matter of putting in your HTC EVO 4G order (using the “Buy with new plan” option), initiating the checkout process, and then canceling the order. Upon canceling your order, Sprint will offer you $50 off your first bill to try to change your mind into going back to their store and buying an EVO. That’s $50 savings will be in addition to the $100 mail-in rebate offer that is applied to orders at Sprint.com. It seems Sprint is putting their money where their mouth is with this offer – by giving potential customers who renege on their purchase a reason to reconsider. We like it.

The EVO 4G boasts a massive 4.3-inch touchscreen, an impressive 8-megapixel camera (with dual-LED flash), a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, WiFi, GPS, 4G data connectivity, and a kickstand for watching movies. Oh, and it’s powered by Android 2.1 OS, skinned with HTC’s Sense UI. All this can be yours for $50 cheaper than anywhere else. But, you should move quickly, we have no idea how much longer Sprint will offer the $50 discount on the EVO 4G.
