
So far, we’ve read numerious articles about AMD’s plans to release graphics chips for mobiles. Apparently, that may happen with the help from Qualcomm, which just managed to license “cutting-edge graphics core technology” from AMD for the next-generation chipsets. Under the deal, Qualcomm will get AMD’s Unified Shader Architecture (introduced in the Xbox 360), and pair it to the their Mobile Station Modem chipsets. The idea is to bring 3G gaming to the handsets at some point in the future. Sadly, we don’t know when’s that future, although it’s nice to see things slowly shaping up…
