Texas Instruments’ DLP and OMAP technologies to enable content sharing

DLP chipWith DLP (Digital Light Processing) and OMAP technologies from Texas Instrument consumers can now use their cell phones to capture and store content, including high-quality digital movies and console-quality video games, and then watch the content with others via a connection to mobile, palm-sized DLP pocket projectors, that are full-featured, yet weigh less than one pound.

The ability to share content between the handset and DLP display should drive increased content sharing as consumers will have easy on-the-go access to their personalized high-quality video content and live TV. Users can quickly and seamlessly display their video content in larger, more enjoyable screen sizes by connecting a DLP Pocket Projector to the video-out feature on OMAP-enabled handsets (like Nokia N93, N93i and N95).

The mobile phone has become the ultimate mobile entertainment center, and with the ability to share this using a DLP display, TI is providing the foundation for seamless content sharing between handsets and display devices – using the .55 DLP chip, these micro-projectors weigh less than one pound and offer incredible mobility.
