I don’t think I’ve posted a story about Mobile and Football being related, before – there’s always a first!
Apparently the Orange Future of Football Report states that technology will infiltrated the beautiful game much sooner than we think. There are a number of potentially applicable areas for mobile technology to be utilised – highlights being:
- Players being communicated to on-pitch via mobile receiving devices they are wearing
- Pitches loaded with sensors to track trajectory (obviously important for things like a ball crossing the lines (or not!)
- Seat Technology ( like a PDA inset) to gives fans TV-like alternative angles, and the obvious revenue stream of ordering food/drink/merchandise to where they are sitting
However, the report has been received slightly less positively by the FA, with them stating that they want to maintain “integrity” of the sport – they also added in terms of developments, they are look at goalmouth techology, for which pilots schemes are already deployed.
So what say you IntoMobile readership – do we need a tech-injection in to footie, or is it fine as it is? Personally I think anything that can improve the accuracy of refereeing has to be a good thing!!
