Apple job listings spur imagination, rumors

iPhone Colbert

With WWDC just around the corner, people are looking to Cupertino for the next big thing. And while we wait, we spotted some neat job ads at Apple’s website.

In the first ad, Apple is hiring “Product Design Engineer – iPhone.” Experience preferred quotes “integration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical.” Heard that – GPS. We don’t know whether they’ve found someone yet, but we certainly hope they’ll have the right guy once they do, and will bless the world with location-aware iPhone at some point in the future.

The second ad doesn’t even mentions the iPhone. However, the “Sr. RF System Engineer” required should have the knowledge about “Bluetooth, 3G, UWB, WiMAX, GPS, Mobile TV and similar wireless technologies.” Sure, you could think this is an ad for a person from the MacBook group. But wait, I don’t see mobile TV coming to laptops anytime soon. Then again, this person will “proactively work” with “other cross-functional engineering groups.”

It’s only natural we’re speculating — It’s Apple, after all. We’ll see where this goes…
