The Canadian Tire App for iPhone

With the spring season now upon us, Canadians from coast to coast (to coast) are getting out of their houses to partake in a little spring cleaning. Rake the yard, get the patio furniture out, wash the windows, you know, that sort of thing. On a personal note, there’s still (unbelievably) a little too much snow on the ground for me to break out into spring cleaning mode just yet, but it’s coming soon… real soon.

Taking the spring season into consideration, and the warming weather, Canadians may need some new tools, advice, or heck, maybe just a brand new BBQ to cook up some good eats while enjoying the warm weather. With that in mind, Canadian Tire has put together a pretty darn good app for iOS.

The Canadian Tire Retail application lets you basically load up your nearest Canadian Tire location right on your iPhone. Getting started is easy. After you load it up, you can select a store by province and city, or… let the GPS do its thing and locate the store nearest you.

Once you’ve selected the store of your choice, you can browse the store catalog, check out the latest flyer, read product reviews, check pricing… heck, once you find what you want you can go ahead and check to see if it’s available in your selected store. If the item is in-stock, you’ll be greeted by a green ‘in-stock’ checkmark… if not, the red ‘x’ will notify you that you’re out of luck.

One other very handy feature is the built-in barcode scanner. You’ll notice a red ‘scan’ button in the top right corner of your screen. Simply tap the button, and hold your device steady to scan a barcode for product pricing and information. Very cool.

Note: The Canadian Tire App is also available for Android and BlackBerry. Check the Android Market and App World for all the details.
