Tellme Jumps On Free 411 Wagon - Free Directory Assistance With OptionsTellme Networks, recently acquired by Microsoft, claims to be responsible for 80 percent of automated 411 calls in the US and they beat Google to the “free 411” market. Tellme’s free directory service was already in place when Microsoft announced its acquisition of the company, beating Google – with their recent announcement of GOOG-411, Google’s own free directory assistance service – to the punch. The service from Tellme has been circulating around the internets as being new, but they were around long before Google’s announcement.

And, Tellme wants you to know that their service is different because it offer you three different options for accessing the free 411 service -and they’ve got some experience under their belt. You can get information through an automated voice-recognition system, SMS text messages, or you can download Tellme’s beta app onto your cell phone.

For voice – simply dial 1-800-555-TELL and answer some computer generated questions.

For text – send an SMS message to TELLM with the information of the listing that you are interested in.

For mobile web – just open up Tellme’s beta app, and go at it!
