In its latest report, Juniper Research talks about the prospects of 4G LTE networks, forecasting rapid growth once networks are launched. Numbers wise, the research company expects that the revenues from LTE will exceed $265 billion globally by 2016.

Initially, it will be the high-end enterprise users who will adopt faster mobile communications, though the total number of LTE consumer subscribers will be higher [than enterprise users] in 2016. However, more consumers don’t necessarily mean more money – the consumer segment will account for under half of total revenues.

Juniper goes on suggesting that the introduction of premium service tariffs which provide guaranteed connections and/or service levels is the key to derive incremental revenues for LTE.

Other findings from the report include:

  • LTE enterprise ARPU is forecast to experience lower rate of decline than consumer ARPU.
  • Western Europe, North America and Far East & China will account for about 84% of total revenue worldwide by 2016.
  • LTE service revenue will represent in excess of 26% of total service revenues from all mobile services across all generations by 2016.

And you can get additional information about Juniper’s report from their website.
