Smartphone owners are more keen to consume mobile content, than the average (non-smart) mobile phone user, according to M:Metrics, a mobile market research firm.

M:Metric watched mobile content consumption in France, Germany and UK and found out that while smartphone users make up only a small percentage of total mobile phone users, they are more likely than not, to consume mobile content. UK is leading the way with 6.6% of smartphone users, followed by Germany with 5.8% and France, where there are 3.4% smartphone users. Smartphone users are more eager to send videos of photos over the network, as nearly half of them already did that in France and Germany. In UK, nearly a quarter of users reported listening to music on their smartphone.

Of course, Symbian is the leading platform in the Western Europe and Paul Goode, vice president and senior analyst at M:Metrics said that they see impressive conversion rates across all forms of mobile content among users of Symbian handsets. Furthermore, he underlined the correlation between device attributes and (screen size, screen resolution and network speed) and propensity to consume content.
