And the first Windows Phone to start selling in China is… (drums please)… HTC Eternity, which will be offered in its unlocked form until some carrier picks it up (though we don’t know whether that will actually happen) and offer it with a contract. The device rocks a huge 4.7-inch screen, dual cameras, and also comes preloaded with a number of popular Chinese apps.
To celebrate the occasion, Microsoft China held an event in Beijing for press and phone industry executives to show off the Chinese-language interface in simplified Chinese, though traditional Chinese is also supported.
Next in line is Nokia, which Windows Phones will too start selling in the near future, eventually offering more choice to the consumers. Hopefully, some of the country’s operators will embrace Microsoft’s mobile platform and subsidize the handset cost, helping the Redmond giant get some decent market share in the world’s most populous country.
