2009 Named ‘Year of the T-Mobile G1 Paperweight’

Even during these tough economic times, HTC appears to be doing swimmingly well. At least that’s all we ever hear in reports from around the web. So, when I noticed today that HTC CEO Peter Chou was quoted as saying the G1 should sell over a million units this year… I wasn’t too surprised at all. Good on ’em for doing so well.

He also noted that a second Android-powered device will come to market in the first quarter of 2009 at the very earliest… and… it gets a bit better still…

Chou also dropped hints that a third Android-powered device is currently under development. I can’t wait for the new slew of Android devices to hit the market in the coming year. I’m pretty sure that the majority of G1 adopters are ‘OK’ with their device, but their appetite has been wetted for sleeker, sexier, and just plain better devices to run the Android OS in the coming year. Can’t wait!

I’m going to take this opportunity to dub 2009 the ‘Year of the T-Mobile G1 Paperweight’. Keeps all of your papers in place!
