webOS-Based Palm Centro 2 Coming in Fall 2009?

Say goodbye to that QWERTY keyboard Mr. Palm Centro!

The QWERTY keyboard could be a thing of the past on the Centro.

We’d all be foolish to think that the Palm Pre would be the only device to carry the brand-new webOS operating system this year. Sure enough, early this morning I started reading some rumors of what could be the second device to run webOS. In a revamp of the somewhat satisfying original model (mediocre), the Palm Centro has now been tapped as the second device to run webOS. This comes via a leak to the folks at PalmInfoCenter.

The leak claimed that the next webOS based device would indeed be based upon the current Centro model. It would be about the same size and shape, but would not have a QWERTY keyboard… Instead that would be replaced with a larger touchscreen to make full use of the new OS. The device would come to Sprint (like the Pre), and start selling sometime in the fall. No further details on the new Centro’s features, capabilities, pricing and exact release date, but I would expect to hear more on this real soon.

I think for now I’ll call this rumored device the ‘Palm Post’… Get it? Pre… Post?… Nevermind. Terrible.
