BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins talked to AllThingsD and other reporters about the company’s progress with its BlackBerry 10 software. In an earlier statement, the CEO talked about licensing BlackBerry, but today he told the group that the company’s BlackBerry 10 software is essentially complete. Heins hinted that the company wanted to roll out the update this year, but waited until early 2013 to get things right. “We could have done it in Q4, but we wouldn’t have gotten good feedback from customers,” Heins said.

Heins also said the company was preparing two types of devices that’ll hit three market segments. The company will make an all-touchscreen device and a traditional device that resembles a QWERTY BlackBerry. These devices will target the high-end, mid-tier and low-end market. Details on the devices were not mentioned, but Heins did say that it will use its acquisitions like Partek to add some compelling technology to the devices.
