Mobile version of Street View now live in Google Maps

As rumored, Google added Street View to the mobile web version of its Google Maps application. iPhone and iPad owners who are unhappy with Apple’s Map application can add Google Maps to their homescreen and launch the web app with the simple tap of an icon. Once launched, users can enter an address, search for a POI, get driving directions and more.

When you are viewing a specific address on the map, a bar appears at the bottom of screen. The menu bar contains a list of locations (if applicable) and row of icons that let you call the business, get driving directions or look at the Street View image of the address. If you tap on the familiar “Street View” person icon, the Street View image will load in a new tab. It may not have a stunning interface like a native app, but the web app works and can be extremely handy in a pinch.

The new mobile Street View works on iOS, Android and other mobile platforms.
