Call it a Comeback: Kogan Agora Rising From the Dead?

I think when we all heard that the Kogan Agora and Agora Pro were delayed, we all kind of figured that was the end of the road. No more Agora. No sweet new Android-powered phone for us to drool over. Over a week ago Kogan Founder Ruslan Kogan noted:

“Since the design of the Agora, the Android community has been growing quickly. I now believe that in order to access all (that) the Android platform has to offer, the Agora must be redesigned.

I am sorry for this delay, but in the interest of doing things right by the Kogan brand promise, and you, the customers, I cannot disappoint you by supplying a product that I am aware will shortly have significant limitations.”

Interesting that Mr. Kogan only mentioned a ‘delay’. He never said the project was over and done. With that fresh in your mind, Michael Oryl from the Android Authority did a little sleuthing and uncovered some cool news. Turns out that customers that pre-ordered the Kogan Agora or Agora Pro will be given a $30 AU credit for the new version when it becomes available. On top of that, they will also get ‘preferential allocation’… Which I assume means they’ll be at the front of the line when the device finally drops.

Don’t give up on Kogan yet… I’m sure there’s more news to come, and at least things are looking up. Cheers to Ruslan for staying true to his word… and heck, for not rushing things either. I know I’d hate to launch a device only to reveal a crap-tastically terrible device. He’s taking his time to catch up to the OS and get things right.
