Today Rdio announced a beta test of its updated app for Android. The new look mobile application has been redesigned to mimic the appearance of its desktop app. In this beta version of the application, users will notice some much-needed improvements such as a new player interface, side-bar navigation to replace the icon grid, and a new remote control feature. Of course, these features could change as the beta progresses to its last stage. Rdio didn’t give us any details on when we could expect the updated app to hit all Android handsets.

If you’re interested in testing the beta test, then download the app and leave feedback using the Rdio Android Beta Testing Google Group. Feel free to tell us what you think about the new version in the comment section.
