On and on we keep hearing that mobile phone users might be at risk of regularly using their beloved devices. MobilePhone.co.in prepared a neat infographic to explain the issue and as far as I can tell – you are free to keep using your gadgets.
For one thing, although radio waves from mobile phones are believed to affect brain and other tissues, there is no scientific evidence to support their role in causing cancer. Here are some of the findings:
- According to the Interphone Study — the largest health-related study on cell phones supported by 13 countries — no significant rise in brain or central nervous system cancers could be established with increased cell phone usage.
- Another cohort study in Denmark tried linking increased cell phone usage data (based on the billing information in 358,000 cell phone subscribers) with brain tumor cases in the Danish Cancer Registry. The analysis found no such association even with subscribers using cell phones for more than 13 years.
- Other countries like the United States, Japan and Europe also have conducted case-control studies to see if increased usage was related to Glioma or Meningioma, but with no positive results.
