Mobile broadband networks, as exciting and powerful as they are now, are still in their infancy. And that means better days lie ahead. Wireless carriers are growing their mobile broadband services to offer faster data speeds and more bandwidth, and are slowly turning up the dial to 3.5G 20Mbps mobile broadband data speeds and beyond. It’s no wonder that new mobile broadband WiFi routers are coming to market – like the new W-series routers from Ericsson. The new Ericsson W30 and W35 mobile broadband routers have just garnered FCC approval on their way to bringing sexy back to 3G routers.

Mobile broadband routers are coming into their own with sexy designs that transcend function. Novatel has been leading the charge with their sleek and highly portable MiFi portable WiFi hotspot device, and now Ericsson is apparently getting set to offer an equally well-designed, if less portable, solution. The Ericsson W30 mobile broadband data router hops on to the wireless GSM network of your choice and brings your WiFi-enabled devices along for the ride. The Ericsson W30 is only data-compatible, serving up wireless data over WiFi or ethernet at up to HSPA speeds. The Ericsson W35 adds voice and fax capabilities to the W30’s feature-set, making for a more flexible device.

Pricing and availability are unknown at this point.
