Nokia’s market share rose to 35.1 percent from 32.5 percent
in the year-earlier quarter, Stamford, Connecticut-based
researcher Gartner Inc. said in a statement. Motorola’s share
climbed to 20.6 percent from 18.7 percent, while Samsung
Electronics Co.’s fell to 12.2 percent from 12.5 percent.

…

Espoo, Finland-based Nokia increased its market share in
every region except North America. The company regained the top
spot in Latin America after losing it to Motorola a year ago,
Gartner said. Nokia sold 88.1 million units in the quarter.

Over a third on planet Earth … how do you like them apples! It is sad to see that Nokia is losing market share in America. It all makes sense however; people think that the only phones they can use with [insert name of a USA cell service provider] are the ones that are offered by said company. It pains me when I see people pout over the fact that they can’t get phone ABC because it’s a “Cingular phone” when in fact they can! Sure you can get a phone on the cheap because you sign your soul away for 2 years, but I’ll have none of that!

UPDATE: I misread the PR, it was 35.1% in the world, not Asia!
