nsn-logoChina Telecom has enabled 3G video streaming through Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), using 3G CDMA EVDO:

The centralized 3G CDMA EVDO video streaming platform can deliver a divers range of audio and video formats nationwide services with sound and picture quality over 50% higher than 2G. The large capacity, advanced features, high stability and reliability of the streaming server engine makes it ideal to support live broadcasts, video on demand and downloading. In addition the video streaming service is flexible to handle and can easily be expanded with new consumer applications.

Of course this might be no great shakes to those of us that live in 3G-network land, but it’s a big thing in terms of infrastructure – NSN is making it’s case in China to be one of the key suppliers of infrastructure – and with that we’ll see who the leaders for infrastructure deployments are going to be in the medium term. Those are also the companies that will also be delivering 4G solutions, which of course, we’ll see deployed in the US and Europe. So in a strange way, much of the success of companies like NSN in China now will affect us indirectly going forward.
