ABI Research: Mobile consumers ready to support green initiatives

ABI ResearchABI Research’s recently conducted study has found that nearly half of mobile consumers in North America are somewhat likely or very likely to be influenced by suppliers’ green credentials when purchasing services or devices.

Respondents were asked whether they’d be more likely to purchase mobile services or devices from an operator that makes use of green initiatives. Of more than a thousand respondents, 41% indicated that they’d be significantly or somewhat more likely to purchase services, and the number goes to 45% for devices. Somewhat not surprisingly, younger consumers showed a greater willingness to pursue “eco-groovy” mobile activities than older ones.

Commenting on the data released, ABI’s senior analyst Jeff Orr said: “Wireless operators take notice. Green issues were not even a talking point a couple years back. Now, subscribers of all age groups are expressing awareness of and interest in eco-friendly device and service incentives.”

More information is available from ABI Research’s website.
