Palm Touchstone beats Palm Pre to market

touchstone-coverIt wouldn’t make sense to buy a new set of “dubs” (20″ wheels, in lay terms) for our G-ride (“car,” get with the program!). So, does it make sense to buy a cellphone charger without the cellphone? Not a chance. Did that stop one eager Palm Pre fan to go out and grab himself a Palm Touchstone wireless charger days before the Palm Pre’s launch? Not a chance.

EverythingPre is reporting that at least one Sprint store is allowing the Palm Touchstone to beat the Palm Pre to market. Forum member Artap99 managed to purchase a Palm Touchstone in a Sprint store for just $50, compared to the $70 retail price for the Touchstone and Pre battery cover combo pack. Apparently, a misinformed sales rep quoted Artap99 the $50 price (the price for the Touchstone by itself, with no magnetic battery cover) and ended up honoring his price quote.

The rest of us will probably just wait until launch day to wait in line for the Palm Pre and Touchstone, but it’s nice to know that the Touchstone is already on sale.
