ReCellular

The largest collector and processor of used cell phones in the world, and the company we love for their green initiatives — ReCellular — has a new CEO. It’s Stephen Manning, who most recently served as Senior Vice President for Business Development and Field Services Operations at $1 billion post manufacturing services division of Solectron Corporation – Solectron Global Services. Before that, he was the President and CEO of Sequel Inc., a service and manufacturing IT outsourcing company focused on the manufacturing and repair of technology equipment.

Chuck Newman, the founder and current CEO, will remain with the firm in the role of Chairman of the Board. He says: “Stephen’s extensive experience in reverse logistics and the cell phone industry will be a tremendous asset to ReCellular. We look forward to leveraging his skills as our business continues to grow and evolve.”

Also joining the team are Ramarao Srinivasa (Srini) as Chief Information Officer, and Jeff Kaiser as Plant Manager. Srini developed his career during more than 23 years at such companies as Digital Equipment Corporation, IBM, Satyam, Logica and Valassis. Jeff is coming from The Wireless Source, where he worked as Vice President of Operations, Customer Care and Process.

For the record, ReCellular collected more than 5.5 million phones during last year, resulting in 1.2 million pounds of materials being diverted from landfills and more than $4 million in donations to charitable causes…
