Documents To Go now available in the AppStore

We told ya’ it’s coming and now it’s here. The popular mobile office suite is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch users around the world. I’m talking about Documents To Go, which made its fame during the gold days of the Palm OS and later on Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms.

The application allows users to view, edit and create Microsoft Word documents, including Word 2007 files. As for Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, you can only view the files and I’m guessing the editing part of the equation is in the pipeline and will be released at some point in the future.

Feature wise, Documents To Go supports many advanced viewing and editing features, including touch navigation, cut/copy/paste, text selection, predictive text entry, bulleted and numbered lists, bold, italics, underline, embedded pictures, tables, word count, password-protected files and the ability to edit in landscape view. DataViz’ InTact Technology is used to ensure that all original file formatting is retained once a file has been edited and forwarded on.

Finally, it’s important to emphasize that there’s also a desktop component used to provide 2-way file synchronization.

Two versions of the application are available – Documents To Go and Documents To Go with Exchange Attachments, with latter being designed for those users who need to send, receive and edit attachments on their iPhones and is $5 more expensive ($9.99 as opposed to $4.99).
