New ruggedized device from Nokia is the 3720 Classic

James picked up a story the other day on a new Nokia device (with no model number at the time) that was getting some harsh treatment in a video (check his post here).

Well now the ‘mystery’ regarding the name is solved – it’s the 3720 Classic.

Dailymobile.se has not only found out the name, but has got hold of the specs too:

  • Water and dust resistant – ip54 certificate
  • Over 2.5 weeks stand by battery
  • Fm radio
  • Torch
  • S40
  • 2,2QVGA 16mio colours
  • 25MB internal memory
  • MicroSD card slot
  • Bluetooth
  • 3.2 mpix camera
  • Available september

That all seems reasonable enough – but the thing I am most interested in is the ip54 cert – that has now become the gold standard for ruggedized phones. So Nokia, if you’d like to seed us one for destruction, we’ll put it up against our other rugged devices – and see which comes out on top!
