As I mentioned late last week, Shazam has launched a new version of their music discovery app for the BlackBerry Storm… Today, the official press release has dropped, and although this really changes nothing, I suppose the new Storm version now has the official ‘blessing’ of the developers. Any Storm users out there tried Shazam yet? I’d be curious to get your feedback. I installed the app a few days back, and she’s working great. If you’ve installed it on your Storm, tell me about it in the comments. Full press release after the jump.

LONDON, UK – July 13th, 2009 – Shazam, the world’s leading mobile music discovery provider, today announced the release of Shazam on the BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphone. Shazam, which has supported BlackBerry® smartphones since launching on BlackBerry App World™ on April 1, is now compatible with the award-winning BlackBerry Storm. The application features full SurePress™ touchscreen support and is available to BlackBerry Storm smartphone users in the U.S., UK and Canada.

“Since launching on BlackBerry this April, we have maintained our status as one of the most frequently downloaded applications on App World,” said Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam.

“BlackBerry Storm users have voiced their eagerness for Shazam and this type of demand highlights the worldwide popularity Shazam has achieved through our mobile music discovery application.  We’re thrilled to continue delivering the applications and features our customers want.”

BlackBerry Storm smartphone users will be able to choose from a free, basic version of Shazam with limited functionality or a full-featured version for $4.99 or £5 (one-off fee depending on location).
