Big-ass batteries extend Palm Pre uptimes like whoa

One of the biggest problems with most of today’s higher-end smartphones is the lack of battery power. With all the hardware stuffed into devices like the Palm Pre, users are barely able to get more than a day’s worth of battery life on a single charge. Thankfully, third-party battery makers like Amzer are here to help. Amzer offers a trio of after-market Palm Pre batteries that extend the Pre’s single-day battery life “like whoa!” Compared to the factory-stock 1150mAh Palm Pre battery, Amzer’s 1400mAh battery gives slightly more juice, but with the Amzer 2800mAh and 3800mAh batteries, Pre users can enjoy multiple days playing with their smartphone without having to charge.

Unfortunately, all that battery juice comes at a, ahem, hefty price. While the 1400mAh battery is the same size as the stock Palm Pre battery the 2800mAh and 3800mAh models are considerably fatter than stock. So much bigger, in fact, that they come with replacement battery covers to accommodate the extra girth. That also means Touchstone charging is out of the question.

Still, if single-day uptimes bug you enough, Amzer’s new batteries might be a good fit.
