Screenshot: Nokia’s Maemo 5 looks nothing like Symbian, and that’s a good thing

The screenshot below (click to enlarge) was captured by Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review, and was posted on his personal blog. It doesn’t reveal too much to be considered interesting. A new way to manage connections, new icons, new color scheme. This is however something we’re going to be seeing a lot more of in 2 weeks at Nokia World if the rumors hold true about the Finnish company launching their first mobile phone running the Linux powered Maemo 5 operating system. Oh how far we’ve come since the days of the 770 (November 2005), N800 (January 2007) and more recently the N810 (October 2007).

Google’s translation of Eldar’s Russian is terrible, but we can make out a couple of things. He says this is the best device of 2009, which is a lot coming from a man who can get any phone he desires, including prototypes that have been cancelled, months in advance. He further adds S60 is obsolete junk. Take that as you will Symbian fans.
