Vinaphone has awarded a 3G network deployment contract to Motorola. The contract will allows ‘Hello Moto‘ to go 3G in Northern Vietnam, including large areas of the capital city of Hanoi.

Dr. Hoang Trung Hai, the deputy managing director of Vinaphone commented on the deal:

“Motorola has successfully competed in an open tender to win the key Northern areas of Vinaphone’s 3G network building upon their successful 2G deployments with Vinaphone. The key city area of Hanoi is a very important commercial focus for Vinaphone and we are pleased to have signed a contract with Motorola to bring 3G service to the capitol city in Northern provinces of Viet Nam.”

The deployment contract is set for a duration of one year, at which point I’m assuming the parties will re-evaluate and decide to renew or cancel.
