A few weeks ago, RIM released a BlackBerry plug-in that added quite a few functions to Google Mail on the device, including stars, archiving, and labels, but still only pushed updates from phone to service rather than supporting true two-way sync. Fortunately, some sharp eyes have spotted a blurb in the latest BlackBerry Connection newsletter, stating “two-way synchronization is expected to be implemented in the near future”. Although it’s mostly an aside with no mention of a timeline, it’s still great to get the commitment, and when combined with the existing Google Sync app, GMail becomes a great alternative for those without enterprise synchronization.
