Samsung announced that it has sold its 50 millionth all-touchscreen mobile phone globally this month. Most devices were sold this year (40 million through the end of November), whereas 2008 accounted for 10 million. When you put these numbers in perspective, you see that all-touchscreen handsets accounted for 20% of Samsung’s 2009 sales, while they made up around 5% of all phone sales last year.
And the top models are:
- Star S5230, which surpassed 10 million units within six months of its launch.
- F480, which has sold 9 million units since May 2008
- Corby S3650 with 3 million units sold within only two months since its launch in September of this year.
As for by region figures, Samsung has sold its largest share of all-touchscreen devices in Europe with 19 million units, followed by the United States (6.3 million), China (3.4 million) and South Korea (3.0 million).
