Motorola DROID Hacked for Multitouch

The one touch control feature that everyone has been clamouring for on every other smartphone since the iPhone has been multitouch, and though the Palm Pre managed to squeeze it in, we haven’t really seen it anywhere else. Well, a clever programmer has cooked up a ROM that shows multitouch working on a Nexus One build of Android 2.1; as you can see, pinch zooming works like a charm. We’ve seen tech demos of multitouch working on devices as far back as the G1, and the developers of the Dolphin browser are making great strides, but nothing quite as close to a native implementation as this. The developer is working remotely in conjunction with someone who has a droid, but he’s taking donations to get his own device and expedite the release of a public ROM. Hit the via to pitch in some money.
