Pew Research: Americans view cell phones, email and the internet as the best thing about the 00s

Pew Research conducted a survey on 1504 Americans earlier this month, asking them what they thought about the current decade that is coming to a close, previous decades, and their expectations of the 2010s. Most viewed the 90s and the 80s as the best decades America has ever experienced, and the 00s as the worst. Almost 60% think that the next decade will rock, but the 32% who think it will suck even more than the 00s will surely keep expectations in line. What was good about the 00s anyway? The top 5 things: cell phones, green products, email, the internet, and increased racial diversity. Social Networking, which at first I embraced enthusiastically, but for the past few months have ruthlessly rejected, is 12th on the list, right above cable news talk shows, and right below acceptance of homosexuals. If you’re into these kind of stats then I’d recommend reading the whole report.
