Voice coming to mobile games

shoutingShouting at your opponent from a mobile phone sounds cool, doesn’t it? Apparently, that’s exactly what we can expect from mobile games in the not-that-distant future thanks to the technology called IP Multimedia Subsystem, or simply “IMS”. Basically, what this technology brings is some kind of peer-to-peer (P2P) functionality to the mobile gaming world. Just like in your IM client, you will be able to chat and talk with your friend on the other side of the world — all while playing a game with him. Furthermore, the IMS-powered games will be able to wake-up when one of your friends challenges you to a game, rather than relying on you being in the game all the time. Of course the best thing stays the shouting – playing AND talking with your opponent seems so close, yet we still have to wait for Vivendi to announce its first IMS-enabled version of “Navy Battle”…
