Apple cold-shoulders McGraw-Hill for iPad leak?

100128_mcgrawThe Apple iPad was making waves throughout the tech community way before Steve Jobs took to the stage to officially announce Apple’s tablet device, but it seems Apple may not have taken too lightly to McGraw-Hill CEO Harold McGraw III’s confirmation of Apple’s plans the night before the iPad was to be revealed. VentureBeat is reporting that McGraw’s loose lips may have gotten his company removed from one of the iPad presentation slides depicting all of Apple’s publishing partners for the iPad. The slide that was shown during the announcement yesterday showed five publishers rather than the six that would have included McGraw-Hill (see the slide to the left).

McGraw went on CNBC to talk about his company’s eBook push into the textbook market, and confirmed, in no uncertain words, that Apple would be announcing a tablet the very next morning. Insider reports indicate that Steve Jobs gave McGraw-Hill the boot immediately following the CEO’s mention of the Apple tablet on the air. It’s not clear if Apple is going to cold-shoulder the 122-year old publisher completely from the iPad’s bookstore, or if the company will merely be getting the silent treatment from Jobs.

The lesson here? Don’t fuck with Apple, or Steve Jobs.

The video below shows McGraw confirming the Apple tablet on the air.
