Good ol’ LG and their naming policy – any carrier can call their phones however they want. Actually, it’s not just LG, some other handset makers including their “countryman” Samsung does similar things, in an effort to appeal to the operator… I guess.
But this is an LG story, so we’ll stick with their examples. For instance, the LG KS360 is known as Neon in the U.S. (AT&T) and Tribe in Italy (TIM). Their Android-powered GW620 smartphone sells under the InTouch Max brand in the UK and (again) in Italy as – LG LinkMe. The last mentioned is the point of this article – the LG GW620 is now available in Italy as LG LinkMe.
Even though it has a different name, there were no changes under the hood. Specs include a 3-inch HVGA resistive (as opposed to capacitive) touchscreen, Android 1.5, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 5-megapixel camera with flash, A-GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, and a microSD expansion slot (1GB card comes in the box).
The price you ask? It’s 299 EUR, which is about $405…
