Sony Ericsson’s Naite phone packs a green punch

Sony Ericsson told us its Naite handset is available today and it will cost a reasonable $159 unlocked.

The Naite (ridiculously pronounced “nigh-tay”) isn’t going to wow anyone with its standard candybar form, but you will get some green cred because it’s part of the company’s eco-friendly GreenHeart lineup. This means the body is made from 50% recycled materials, it has a low-consumption charger and there’s no wasteful manual in the box.

The handset is by no means a powerhouse but the feature phone has 3G (AT&T bands), Bluetooth, Facebook integration and all the music-playing goodness you’d expect from a Sony Ericsson handset. The Naite also comes with Google Maps and you’ll be able to check your Web-based e-mails on this thing.

At this price, the Naite is a bargain and it could come in handy if you’re looking for a low-cost, but capable phone for a few months.
