It seems the higher-ups at Samsung and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) heard us whining about not having those trick mobile phone charging stations at our local Burger King restaurants.  In collaboration with airport advertising contractor JCDecaux, Samsung and LAX have rolled out more than 50 charging stations in all terminals at the international airport in Los Angeles, California.

“Fifty-one 8-1/2-foot-tall, pole-like charging stations have been installed throughout the boarding areas in Terminals 1 through 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal. The Samsung Mobile Charging Stations have four outlets per station, allowing multiple travelers to re-charge their electronic devices. They are designed to re-charge personal electronics designed for U.S. voltage (i.e., 120 volts). The electrical re-charging stations are designed with a small shelf to hold electronic equipment.”

The charging stations were designed and produced by JCDecaux. The move to provide travelers with these charging stations helps “To celebrate Samsung’s 10th anniversary, we are sponsoring the Samsung Mobile Charging Stations for travelers’ use at LAX free of charge,” says Pete Skarzynski, Samsung Mobile senior vice president.

Patricia Tubert, LA World Airports Deputy Executive Director of Real Estate and Economic Development, says, “This new service is part of our continued commitment to implementing customer service initiatives to meet travelers’ needs.”

Finally, the US gets some mobile charging love. Now, we just need to get these charging stations in our McDonald’s and Burger King restaurants.
