TripAdvisor launches mobile website

The travel community site TripAdvisor is going mobile. But it’s not a mobile application they’ve launched, it’s a mobile website — “something completely different” in today’s app economy. 😉

The site (in beta) is available in 17 countries and 11 different languages, and so far it managed to attract more than one million unique monthly visitors, which according to the official press release is more than any other mobile website in the travel industry.

Users with compatible (and GPS equipped) phones can even find nearby restaurants, hotels and attractions, as well as directions to them. Moreover, you can contribute your own reviews and opinions to suggest some nice place or warn others about poor service you just received.

TripAdvisor’s mobile website is currently available in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, India, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Turkey. Additional countries and languages are planned for the near future.

To access the site, simply point your mobile browser to www.tripadvisor.com and you will be redirected to the “optimized for mobile” part…
