It’s a raining dead birds season in some parts of the world, including Arkansas, Louisiana and even Italy, prompting folks to think that the end is near. Loopt decided to “take advantage” of the mysterious events and throw a party. The thinking behind the move makes perfect sense – if it is the end of the world, we better try and go out with a bang.
The location-based service is inviting its users to check in at their favorite bars and/or restaurants on Loopt with hashtag #aFLOCKalypse and push it to Twitter. Moreover, Loopt users should also invite their friends to repeat the process in the same bar/restaurant. Whatever place gets the most #aFLOCKalypse Check Ins will get a Loopt-sponsored aFLOCKalypse party with food, drinks and some cool prizes like Angry Birds plush toys and downloads. Additionally, the party rally crew will also get a special shout out. Loopt will contact the venue owners, and work the whole thing out.
