At least once or twice a week, I find myself ‘browsing’ for cars. I love ‘em, and I enjoy checking out what’s for sale in my area. For some time now I’ve been using the AutoTrader.ca app, and quite honestly, it’s a great way to shop for cars, all from the convenience of your iPhone. Use of the app is quite simple. Hit the ‘browse’ tab at the bottom, and your iPhone will use GPS to locate your current coordinates. From there, it will return a listing of car brands … Read more
A quick game update here for the Android users out there. The other day, I received a note from my friend Sylvain at Mobigloo. He had an update on the ‘Pinball Deluxe’ game for Android, and wanted to get the word out about it… so here it is! First off, the game has reached a milestone. The 1 million download mark has been surpassed. Amazing what a decent game and a pricetag of, well, FREE will do for an app. Regardless, hats off to Mobigloo for reaching the milestone… it’s … Read more
It’s late at night (or early morning), and you’ve been out partying for hours… and maybe even had a drink (or two, or three)… where do you turn to make that all important phone call to satisfy those, um, desires? Look no further than the Booty Call iPhone case from Fred Flare. This thing is a little bit of ridiculous… but I love it. Sure, I’d never use the darn thing, but I sure as heck could see myself buying it as a gag gift for a single friend or … Read more
With the spring season now upon us, Canadians from coast to coast (to coast) are getting out of their houses to partake in a little spring cleaning. Rake the yard, get the patio furniture out, wash the windows, you know, that sort of thing. On a personal note, there’s still (unbelievably) a little too much snow on the ground for me to break out into spring cleaning mode just yet, but it’s coming soon… real soon. Taking the spring season into consideration, and the warming weather, Canadians may need some … Read more
I never had an Atari, although I always kind of wish I did… Thankfully, with the aid of my iPhone 4 that can all change, and I can check one more item off my geek-tastic ‘bucket list’… all thanks to the Atari Greatest Hits app for iOS. As you’d expect, the app delivers a whole bunch of retro gaming goodness, with lots of titles, and the ability to purchase separate game packs. The only downer here? Yeah, you guessed it… there’s really not much freebie action going on. While the … Read more
Yo Canada… following The Masters? If you are, and you already have The Masters app installed on your iPhone (or iPad), there’s another app you may want to check out. TSN recently released their ‘TSN at the Masters’ app, and it draws some similarities to their main mobile app. The look and feel of it is mostly the same, however a bright ‘Masters Green’ color scheme was set on top. It looks nice. Inside you’ll find everything you’d expect, from the latest news, live scoring, videos and more… But perhaps … Read more
It’s prank time… time to revisit one April Fools’ joke that caught my attention this year. During a newscast on April 1st, Raoul Martinez of Fox 5 in San Diego managed to pull the wool over the eyes of co-anchor Shally Zomorodi in an unusual way. While describing a new app called ‘Virtual Sip’ that featured something called ‘piezo-electrics’, Raoul reported you could actually sniff and smell aromas coming from your device. Heck, you can even lick it to get a taste! This has to be one of the best … Read more
Canada’s General Election is coming up on May 2, 2011, and citizens of the true north strong and free owe it to themselves (and their country) to make an informed vote come election day. With that in mind, I stumbled across a new app from the folks at The Globe and Mail that is a must-have for iPhone-packing Canadians. Titled ‘Globe Politics’, this free app delivers exactly what you’d expect. Pop it open for the latest political news, commentary and analysis from the crack team at The Globe and Mail. … Read more
With the 2011 Formula 1 season underway, I found myself doing some quick searching around the App Store this evening for some F1 goodness. What I turned up was a little bit of goodness from the folks at ESPN. The ESPN F1 iPhone app brings all the Formula 1 news you can handle… and best of all, it’s a free download. Not only will you get the news, you’ll get access to the race calendar, circuit maps, histories, live commentaries (during races), and all sorts of detailed info on the … Read more
Seems like every spring, when spring is in the air and it’s time for The Masters golf tournament (in my opinion, the best golf tourney in the world!), I always find myself writing up a little post about their app. This year is no different. The Masters app for iPhone was recently updated for the 2011 tournament, which is taking place on April 4th through 10th 2011 in Augusta, Georgia. Available as a free download, you can use it to view live streams of video content, check on the latest … Read more
TELUS is continuing their support of Japanese relief efforts by extending their free long distance (to Japan) program until April 30th. To date, TELUS customers have already made 40,000 free calls to Japan on their mobile devices and home phone lines since the program was initiated in March. CMO David Fuller commented on the extension: “The tragedy in Japan continues to affect TELUS team members and our customers, and we want to do what we can to support them at this challenging time, so we will continue to offer free … Read more
