Contact UsChina Telecom has finally started its MVNO in the UK, which runs on Everything Everywhere’s network. The service, named CTExcelbiz, marks the first time a Chinese-owned MVNO has operated outside China and is offered on a pay-as-you-go basis. In terms of clients, China Mobile is targeting Chinese people living in and visiting the UK. In that sense, users get Chinese language voicemail, bilingual Chinese and English customer support, a local Chinese number; as well as unlimited free calls between CTExcelbiz users and low-cost bundles. Moreover, CTExcelbiz also provides its user … Read more
Looks like Samsung is preparing to release a new Windows Phone in China. The new device, marked as SCH-S759, has been caught while getting necessary Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certifications, with some blogs (Blog of Mobile) speculating it’s destined to join China Telecom’s portfolio. Of course, until we get the official press release from either China Telecom or Samsung, that’s just a rumor. Then again, we do know both Samsung and Microsoft want a piece of the ever growing Chinese mobile market and in that sense we wouldn’t be surprised to … Read more
Last month we filed a report that said Baidu was going to release a new smartphone running their in-house operating system. The rumors said it would cost roughly $160 and have a 3.5 inch screen. According to Reuters, Baidu will indeed release a handset. We’ve no reasons to believe Samsung won’t repeat its Galaxy S II success with the brand new Galaxy S III. To do that, the Korean company needs to make its flagship device available across all continents while at the same time signing deals with major carriers. Europe will be the first to get the taste of the new Galaxy S III with countries in Asia and the Americas following soon afterwards. What about China, you may ask? The world’s largest smartphone market will get the new Galaxy too, or at … Read more

From housewives smuggling large amounts of iPhones and iPads to one dude taping about 30 iPhones onto his person, it seems more and more would-be smugglers are trying to make a quick buck in the world’s largest nation. So, why China? China has a large import tax on products like the iPhone, making them key targets for folks with disposable cash who want to make a quick buck. Would-be smugglers can purchase iPhones outside of China, sneak into … Read more
Nokia has officially unveiled its first Windows Phones (2 of them) for China – Lumia 800C and Lumia 610C. The two phones are heading to China Telecom and are therefore changed to sing along their network. Yup – that “C” doesn’t just stand for “China,” but also for CDMA. As far as I’ve understood, aside from the radio change, Lumia 610C and Lumia 800C are identical with their international (without “C”) counterparts, the latter being the better device. However, Nokia will bundle some special apps and content with the two … Read more
China has quite a smuggling crime syndicate on its hands, and a high-tech one at that. Instead of smuggling the usual lot of illegal drugs and other not-niceties we’re accustomed to hearing about, some folks in China are attempting to smuggle iPhones from Hong Kong to mainland China. In mainland China, iPhones sell for about $125 more than they do in Hong Kong, and some smugglers are hoping to make a pretty penny off of this price inconsistency. One crafty Chinese man had over 30 iPhone 4S devices on his person … Read more
