Known for his inside leaks, twitter member @evleaks is back again with a rumor that suggests Sprint-subsidiary Boost Mobile is getting the iPhone later this year. His simple tweet says “iPhone to Boost Mobile in Q3.” If true, Boost would become one of several prepaid carriers offering the iPhone, joining carriers like Virgin Mobile, which is also owned by Sprint, and Cricket, a division of Leap Wireless. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS is showing increased market share in the smartphone market, despite the domination of the smartphone market by OS’s such as Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. According to Kantar Worldpanel, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS accounted for 5.6% of smartphone sales in Q1 2013, which showed a growth rate of 1.9% compared to figures from the previous year. According to a report from 9 to 5 Mac, Apple’s next version of iOS, iOS 7, will have a completely redesigned user interface, which could be unsettling for some users yet a breath of fresh air for others. The new interface is said to be “very flat,” and that the redesign loses the elements of shine, glass and skeumorphism that Apple users are so accustomed to. In an attempt to curb stolen smartphone sales, San Francisco police officers are using a tactic that they hope will shock and awe those who buy stolen iPhones out of doing so. The SFPD is sending out plainclothes officers to some of the rougher areas of SF, offering “stolen” iPhones to unwitting civilians. When someone shows interest in purchasing the device, the cops make an arrest. Fandango updated its iOS app for iPhone and iPad. The upgrade brings a much-needed enhancement that lets iPad users scroll through photos & videos and view in full screen models.
