One of the top rated puzzle games for the BlackBerry Storm and Tour has expanded its device compatibility. Pixelated Plus (pictured above) is now available for the Curve 8900 and Bold 9700. Groovy. I actually have a similar game on my iPhone that I’ve played for a long time now, called Flood It! (iTunes link), and I love it. The premise of the game is the same: Flood the board with squares of the same color. I’ll let the official description do it some justice:
The object of the game is to change the colour of the squares until the entire screen is a single solid colour. This is done by using the coloured buttons on the bottom of the screen to change the colour of the square in the upper left hand corner and those surrounding it. Changing this square to the colour of those around it, allows it to slowly grow until it fills the entire screen. The ultimate goal is to do so in as few moves as possible.
Get ready to rumble, because a new Chuck Norris ‘Bring on the Pain’ game is coming to the iPhone real soon! In true Norris style, the game promo features the following tagline:
‘You may think you’re playing a Chuck Norris game, but Chuck Norris can’t be played’.
Excellent. ‘Chuck Norris: Bring on the Pain’ is said to arrive in the App Store within the next 2 weeks for $0.99. I may just have to buy it!
A quirky fact about Chuck Norris? Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) pays Chuck $0.99 every time he listens to a song. It’s true. Honest.
Are you a fan of games from the 90s that star earthworms that battle evil while wearing a robotic suit? Do you also enjoy playing games on your iPhone for countless hours until your battery is completely bone dry? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then this post is for you!
Gameloft announced today the release of the iPhone / iPod Touch version of Earthworm Jim. The game originally was released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo & SEGA Genesis consoles, and now you can relive the 16-bit, side-scrolling glory days through your iPhone / iPod Touch. Earthworm Jim stars Jim, who was once an ordinary earthworm until a suit dropped from outer space onto Jim, which then mutated him into a hero.
Run, gun, swing from hooks with your head, launch cows, bungee jump, rocket through speed levels and more!
Face 12 types of enemies and 9 bosses.
4 different styles of gameplay: Side-scrolling run & gun, space racing, bungee jumping and underwater levels
10 original environments divided into 16 levels
4 levels of difficulty, including the challenging mode of the original game
The re-mastered cult soundtrack
iPod library access to play your favorite tracks while playing the game.
As a special treat, Gameloft has supplied us with a US iTunes code to download Earthwork Jim for the iPhone / iPod Touch for free! Since I’m in a good mood, I’ll be giving it away to a lucky reader. You’ve got two ways of entering:

One of the most downloaded games for the past few days now, Fling is a unique puzzle game that I really get a kick out of. The object of the game is to clear the board of the fuzzy furballs by flicking them with your finger. However, it’s not as easy as it seems. You must ‘fling’ the furballs into one another, you can’t simply fling them off the board. Plus, if a furball is adjacent to another, you can’t fling them into one another. Make sense? Try out the free version (iTunes link) and you’ll get it, trust me.
Each puzzle has a single solution, and apparently the full version of the game features over 10,000 puzzles. Crazy! Play the game in ‘free-play’, which lets you play at your own pace and keep track of stats… There’s also an ‘arcade’ mode which pits you against the clock… Finally there’s a ‘challenge’ mode that makes you solve sets of puzzles within a certain amount of time, all the while trying to beat personal best times. Lots of game play options, lots of fun!
You’ve probably already heard about Pocket God, one of the most popular iPhone games around. It’s about to get the unofficial sequel (other company is behind the title) called Pocket Devil. As you can guess for yourself, the game sees you taking charge of purgatory and its many horned minions. You can either push them into suffering or everlasting peace.
Similarly to Pocket God, this is also an episodic game, and now we have the first chapter, Burn Baby Burn, available in the AppStore.
We’re curious to see whether it will fly as much as Pocket God did. If it does, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bolt Creating (folks behind Pocket God) pushing some legal action against Pocket Devil’s makers – Eyedip…
Yep, I know there’s more than one of you out there that have been waiting for this one. Ever since Will gave us that awesome sneak peak of Rock Band from CTIA WITE 2009, this one has been highly anticipated. While the launch date wasn’t known exactly, we knew it was coming soon… and thankfully, it’s here!
Play the guitar, bass, drums or take the mic as the lead singer. Of course there are the standard levels of gameplay (easy, medium, difficult), plus you can play solo, crank up a quickplay, or hit the road in ‘Tour Mode’. You can also rock out with your friends via Bluetooth, or sync up via Facebook. There’s a handy ‘message center’ in the app that lets you check on your bands’ status, and you can even get push notifications when a buddy wants you to join him/her for a jam session.
In addition to the 20 songs that come with, Rock Band also an in-app music store that lets you purchase more music from the likes of the Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz, and more.
So far, there’s been nothing but glowing reviews. You can pick up Rock Band for $9.99 in the App Store (iTunes link). Expensive for sure, but me thinks this thing is going to be flying off the virtual shelves. I’m oh so tempted… I wish Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) hadn’t made it so easy to buy apps… Tap… tap… purchase!
Now that the dust has settled from the initial announcement that Rock Band is headed to the iPhone, it’s time for EA Mobile to keep this hype train going. What better way than to offer a teaser trailer.
As is customary with almost all “teaser trailers”, you’ll see very little gameplay footage here. For the most part, you’ll be watching a video of four people who are stuck in a boardroom fantasizing about performing in front of an audience in some club. I’m curious as to what kind of office allows a woman to dress the way she does in the video and for a black gentleman to be sitting in on a meeting while holding drumsticks.
If you really want to get a good idea of how Rock Band iPhone plays, check back after the break for our hands-on demo video.
Earthworm Jim is about to hit the AppStore and to further entice us to grab the game once it’s released, Gameloft released the official iPhone trailer. As you’re about to see, the new Jim keeps all the cool parts of the original title, whereas the gameplay is optimized for the touchscreen. Without further ado, here’s the clip. Enjoy!
Don’t let the name fool you. Dungeon Hunter has you hunting more than just dungeons. In fact, you’re not hunting dungeons at all, instead you’ll be hunting various enemies that just happened to be in a dungeon. I know, I know, that idea just probably blew your mind, but trust me when I say it’s for the best.
Dungeon Hunter is Gameloft’s attempt at the hack-n-slash RPG genre that has gone nearly untouched in the iPhone gaming market. The question is: Does the hack-n-slash RPG genre work on the iPhone platform and how well did Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter?
Beneath A Steel Sky Remastered for the iPhone is now officially in the AppStore. As we’ve alreadycovered the game, I’ll stop here. Check it out in iTunes for additional details and few screenshots. What I want to talk about here is the sequel – Beneath A Steel Sky 2, which apparently is on the drawing board.
We caught the information from the interview with creative pairing Charles Cecil and Dave Gibbons, who said they might be working on a sequel, though nothing is confirmed at this stage.
Cecil said: “Well the drawing board is full of ideas right now, some of those include Beneath A Steal Sky 2 and some don’t. There’s certainly more that could be done with those characters.” Dave Gibbons added that “BASS has by no means ended.” He went on to notice: “Once you start to think of possibilities with iPhone and other modern digital platforms, the little bells go off!”
This is how I read this – if they make enough money from Beneath A Steel Sky Remastered, there are no doubts they’ll go for the second part. Can’t wait for it!
