Google’s Android team stops its geekery for a geekier Holiday video

With Xmas just days away, Google’s Android team has thrown together a video wishing everyone Happy Holidays. Of course, you’ll find the Galaxy Nexus throughout the entire video along with some of the handset’s nifty features. Since we’ve already gone through the all the features found on the Galaxy Nexus and in Ice Cream Sandwich exhaustively, why don’t you just sit back and enjoy the video? All of that fake snow reminds me why I don’t live in the Northeast coast anymore. [YouTube via AndroidCentral]

Siri: The iPhone Movie pits man against machine

Although Siri isn’t technically that much better than what had been previously available, it certainly has made a better case for everyday voice recognition on smartphones. Of course, the “talking to your computer” scenario has a distinctly Space Odyssey feel to it, which is helped in no small part by some of the more… quirky responses Siri has been known to give. Based on that tone, the fine folks at Rooster Teeth have cooked up this movie trailer. A bunch of friends get an iPhone 4S for Christmas, but things Read more

New Google Galaxy Nexus Ads

Google just released two new ads on YouTube showing off some pretty cool features of Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy Nexus, as one video shows off Hangouts and the other ICS’s facial security. In the first video Hangouts is front and center; the video service enables live video chat with up to 10 people at once using the Galaxy Nexus’ front-facing camera. In the second video, a child is shown trying to unlock his father’s Galaxy Nexus with the phones’ front-facing camera. I have to say facial-recognition is the Read more

Review: Grand Theft Auto III for iOS & Android – Buckle up for a ride down memory lane

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto III was released and completely blew away the video game industry with its amazing open-world gameplay, adult theme, and ability to beat the living snot out of anyone or anything that you pass along in the world. And now, something that required an entire Playstation 2, Xbox, or PC is now available on our mobile devices. And it’s not some stripped down version that was made to fit onto our iOS and Android devices, but it’s actually Read more

Apple iOS 5.1 beta 2 allows users to delete individual photos from Photo Stream

Apple seeded iOS 5.1 to developers in November, and the recently released beta 2 brings a feature we’ve all been longing for since iOS 5.0: the ability to delete individual photos from the Photo Stream. One of the great advantages of Photo Stream is that it’s so effortless. Snap a photo, and it’s already in Photo Stream, which means it’s on all your other devices within a few seconds. This is also a major disadvantage too, since most people don’t want every single photo they take on all of their Read more

Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz 4.0 on Galaxy S II spotted

Although we were already promised that the Samsung Galaxy S II would be receiving the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update at some point, we’re still in the dark as to when. Well, it looks like development on the latest version of Android is going along quite well and below is a video of Ice Cream Sandwich playing nice with TouchWiz 4.0. It wouldn’t be smart to imagine that the likes of Samsung and others would allow the latest version of Android to shine through as much as we would like Read more

iOS 5 untethered jailbreak imminent, shown off on video

At last, jailbreak enthusiasts can proudly wave a middle finger at Apple’s “closed” system on iOS. Though it’s not available yet, an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 is clearly on its way and there’s even a video for proof. Hacker Pod2g filmed a video and uploaded it to YouTube showing it off in full effect on an iPod touch. The Settings panel in the video indicates that the jailbroken iPod touch is running iOS 5.0 — not 5.0.1, the most recent version — which may affect compatibility. Redsn0w has had Read more

Pope Benedict XVI lights up a Christmas tree using Sony Tablet S

Pope Benedict XVI clearly embraces new technology, especially tablets. He sent out his first tweet earlier this year using an Apple iPad and he recently lit a Christmas tree completely made up of lights using a Sony Tablet S. The gigantic tree of lights can easily be spotted on Mount Ingino in Gubbio, Italy. Apparently, the pope was originally supposed to use an iPad to complete yet another task, but ended up making a switch to Android. Of all tablets — Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom, Kindle Fire, etc. Read more
