Following on Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s recent update to their Nokia N95 for European owners, Espoo is pushing out another firmware update for Nokia N95 8GB handsets. The new firmware, v31.0.015 for those keeping track, promises to bring improved web browsing stability, closing a jailbreak hole, and various other bug-fixes and enhancements in its 130MB payload.
As usual, you can update your Nokia N95 8GB to the v31.0.015 firmware through your Nokia Software Updater utility. Be warned, back up all the data on the phone – once you’ve started your update to v31.0.015, all that data will be gone.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has released a new firmware update for now kinda old Nokia N95 smartphone. The firmware version 31.0.017 comes a month after the previous upgrade (31.0.014) and features minor updates to the device. When I say “minor updates,” I’m saying not a major feature has been spotted and since the version number is only “003″ away from the previous update, I guess it’s a bug fixing release. In addition, it’s fair to add we still don’t have a change log, hence we’re not sure what exactly has been improved.
As always, we advise you to keep your firmware up to date. Simple start Nokia Software Updater and take it from there.
As a sidenote, I don’t quite understand Nokia for abandoning the Nokia N95-3 model, which is the N95 designed for the U.S. market. Its firmware version is still 20.2.011 and those that bought it must feel like suckers.

Few weeks ago we wrote about the new firmware being available for the Nokia N96. Well, the same firmware is now also available for the NAM version (N96-3 NAM – RM-472) of the N96, allowing users in North America to update their beloved smartphone and consequently make the device more stable.
Changes/improvements made from MCU SW v11 to v12 include:
- Switch 4.0 – improved switch application to transfer user data from/to other devices
- Still image quality is improved, with fixes for color haziness and motion blur that appeared under certain conditions
- Improved overall Bluetooth interoperability
- Now compatible with Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Email service (available as separate download)
- If user sets brightness to maximum value, the display backlight now does turn back on after screensaver mode
- The device auto-lock no longer locks the device while viewing or recording videos
- SMS no longer gets auto-converted to an MMS message if there are more then 20 recipients
- Music Player “Refresh Library” no longer hangs if General Settings Date separator is set to “:”
- Now only one message alert tone is played per synchronization with Mail for Exchange, instead of one per message
- Fix for issue with alarm snoozing
- Theme no longer jumps back to default theme after using USB mass storage mode
- CSHelp texts are now updated to resolves several identified issues
Want it? The latest firmware for the N96 NAM is already through the Nokia Software Updater from where you should be able to update it pretty easily.

Just recently we spotted a new firmware version for the Nokia N85. The Finnish giant is following the suite with their N79 model and has released firmware version 12 for the device.
Aside from fixing many of the known bugs and issues, improving existing stuff, and overall making the device more responsive and stable – the updated N79 sports a new version of NGage client as well as new version of Mail for Exchange app. The change-log is huge and if you really want to know all the details, I suggest you visit SymbianFreak, who scored the whole list.
As always, we advise you to keep your device’s software up to date. The new firmware is already available through Nokia (NYSE: NOK) Software Updater and Nokia PC Suite, and by now you figured what you should do, right?

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced that two of their Symbian S60 smartphones, N79 and N85, have started selling through retail channels in the United States, including the Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago. Both devices are sold unlocked and both come with proper bands (850 and 1900 MHz) to sing along AT&T (NYSE: T)’s 3G network. In addition, the N85 also supports European 3G networks (2100 MHz), and is therefore “perfect for a holiday break abroad,” or at least Nokia says so.
I won’t go on talking about any of the two models – you can read more about them from our earlier article, posted when the two devices were initially announced. I’ll only add that each one of the devices have “ample storage space included inbox” — the N79 comes with a 4GB microSD card and the N85 with a 8GB microSD card.
The Nokia N85 is available for an estimated retail price of $539, while the Nokia N79 could be yours for $439.

As feature-packed and stylishly designed as the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N96 is, the N96 has been plagued with stability and performance problems. But, that’s all about to change with the new Nokia N96 firmware. The new firmware update from Nokia promises to make the Nokia N96 faster, improves camera accuracy, and increases WiFi reception range.
Nokia N96 owners looking to tune-up their handset can download the Nokia N96 v12.043 update through the Software Updater. MobileBurn is also reporting that the firmware update may be available through the Nokia N96’s OTA (over-the-air) update utility. To wireless download the update, simply dial *#0000# from the stand-by screen and then navigate to Options>Check for update.

With the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N85 garnering FCC approval recently, it was only a matter of time before Nokia graced the North American continent with a Nokia N85 variant capable of surfing North American 3G frequencies. Pre-orders have been available from Amazon.com and Nokiausa.com for a while now, and today we’re hearing that the Nokia N85 is now shipping to customers.
Symbian Guru has it on several user-emails that Nokia has started shipping pre-ordered Nokia N85 units. The Nokia N85 NAM features tri-band 3G frequency support (850/1900/2100Mhz), which includes support for the 850Mhz and 1900Mhz bands used by AT&T (NYSE: T) for their 3G network.

Amazon is offering the Nokia N85 for $555.99. Nokia lists the N85 for $502 on their website. Both websites are now listing the handset as being available.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) has released another firmware update for its once flagship N95 handset. The all-in-one smartphone was released two years ago, and it still has somewhat respectable specs boasting HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, 5 megapixel camera, and a whole lot more.
The firmware version 31.0.014 is 140MB heavy download, and you can already grab it through Nokia Software Updater or Nokia PC Suite. As usual, it is suggested that you backup all your data prior to pushing the trigger.
Unfortunately, we don’t know what exactly has been changed, but it’s safe to bet a number of known bugs have been fixed, some of the apps updated, and the device will be overall more stable after the upgrade. If you notice something interesting upon installing the latest firmware, please let us know.

Remember that cool version of the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N96 with tiny nunchucks? I’m talking about the special Bruce Lee edition of the N96.
Along with the new device edition, Nokia also prepare a viral video to promote the new offering. A short video features the man himself, Bruce Lee, lighting matches with nothing but his nunchucks. Awesome!!! Enjoy it!
