Imagining the BlackBerry Z10′s successor

While I like the new BlackBerry Z10, I found it have a too thick bezel around the display. In fact, at one time I had it home alongside the Sony Xperia T and found Sony’s phone only slightly bigger, despite having a 0.35-inch larger screen (4.55 vs 4.2 inches). That made me wonder – couldn’t RIM made the same device with a bigger screen? When you look at the Z10 you can’t but wonder whether that way-too-thick bezel was needed in the first place. Sure enough, the BlackBerry 10′s gesture Read more

BlackBerry Q5 video tour

The new BlackBerry Q5 could easily prove as the company’s most popular smartphone, helping the Canadian company reach customer segments which is now served by other vendors. When BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins officially announced the Q5, it failed to share its specs sheet. Later on, we’ve learned that it comes with a slower-than-Q10′s 1.2GHz dual-core processor (most likely also made by Qualcomm), 2GB of RAM, 3.1-inch 720×720 pixels screen, 5MP camera with flash on the back, 2MP front-facing camera and 8GB of internal memory. And while we still don’t know Read more

Samsung Galaxy Win launching in India as Galaxy Grand Quattro

Samsung Galaxy Win is coming to India. However, interested folks won’t be able to buy it under that name; rather the Korean company renamed it to Galaxy Grand Quattro. We’re not sure why the name change was needed but what do we know. Anyway, Samsung suggests MSRP of Rs. 17,290 (about $312) though some retailers are offering it for less – around Rs. 16,000 ($289). KDDI’s HTC One variant rocks a microSD memory card slot

So, the Chinese won’t be the only one getting the HTC One variant with a microSD card slot. Japan’s KDDI announced a similar device calling it HTC J One (model number HTL22) that also comes with support for microSD cards (of up to 64GB). Rest of the phone’s hardware is pretty much unchanged though we guess there are some tweaks here in there to accommodate for the ever-demanding Japanese mobile market. For instance, there’s the Infrared port on the HTC J One, since that thing is apparently a nice-to-have feature Read more

Apple has been mum about any new product developments over the last few months, but the company is certainly not rolling over to the likes of Samsung in its ongoing patent infringement battle. Siri, by using Google’s Google Now technology in their devices. Apple is also claiming Read more
