Slacker Radio for Android

Look out Pandora, Slacker is here to take your users away and they’ve come fully loaded with features. The music streaming industry is a fairly new one, with Pandora being the most used service Slacker is here to change that. This music streaming service shares one thing in common with Pandora, they let you listen to music, but that’s about it.

Let’s take a look at what makes Slacker my favorite music streaming service, and why their app is a must have.

Available here: Android Market

The Good
  • The selection slacker offers is very large. With a catalog 10X larger than Pandora, there's more than enough for everyone.
  • Pre-configured stations allow you to listen to music quicker and offer you stations like "Today's hits" and my personal favorite "Hip-Hop/R&B Hits."
  • Station caching for premium users means you can save some money on your monthly bill and even listen to music without a data connection which is great for subway listeners.
The Bad
  • Data intensive for those that don't have an unlimited plan.
  • You most sign up to be able to use this service.

Features & Functionality

The features the Slacker Android application offers are very simple and to the point. The main application is compatible with just about every Android phone in the market, and all you need is a data connection to start off. The application allows you to skip 6 songs on every station, so you won't be stuck listening to music you don't like as you'll get with Pandora. The music collection with Slacker is phenomenal. Slacker offers millions of songs both recent hits to classic quality music. These songs are accessible from either their pre-configured stations or you can create your own with your favorite artist, song, etc being the anchor of the station.

Features and functionality is something this application doesn't lack, and thanks to the cache and world support, you'll be able to get your music no matter wherever you are.

Conclusion

I write this review as a previous Pandora lover that is now a Slacker exclusive user. This application is very nice, and the service that you get with it is well worth the "free" price-tag.

Recommend

Yes, you'd be nuts if you didn't give this application a try. Streaming music, for me, has never been any easier than with Slacker and the quality of the audio along with the great selection makes for a must have application.
