As DigiTimes notes, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is working with various groups in developing next-generation Bluetooth technology and expects end products using the technology to hit the market by 2007 at the soonest. The next BlueTooth technology will be integrated with Ultra Wideband (UWB) technologies and will allow a 480Mbps-bandwidth wireless transmission at a short distance. The new speed makes the technology ideal for short distance video conferencing and large-size file transfers, making it ideal to expand to home-use, industrial and medical-use in the near future.
