China Mobile announces 5.6 million subscribers in julyWhen you have fully 10% of the world’s population residing within your borders, the exploitation potential in any market is incredible. Case in point, China Mobile has just announced their continued dominance in the Chinese wireless market – with 5.6 million subscribers in July alone.

Smaller rival, China Unicom, has been steadily losing ground to the larger China Mobile network. And, according to DBS Vickers Securities analyst Steven Liu, China Unicom will be on the losing end of the battle to exploit the Chinese wireless market.

While US carriers are happy to announce record subscriber growth of maybe a million wireless customers, China’s China Mobile brings the smackdown with their 5.6 million-strong subscriber growth. Ahh, the joys of having a billion people in your country.
